John Brooke lives mostly in Montreal, near Marché Jean-Talon and Parc Jarry. And also often in a schoolhouse on the Lavender Hill Road at Dunedin, Ontario. He has been a freelance business writer and translator for thirty years.

John has published eight books. He won the Journey Prize for his short story The Finer Points of Apples. He won a CBC short fiction prize for The Death of PJ Barfard.

John gathers information on Inspector Aliette Nouvelle during regular trips to a village in France with his French-born love Annie.
